IRA COHEN

I_C_100Ira Cohen is the recipient of the China Staff-Euro Money Group Human Resources 2000, ‘Special Award for Outstanding Contribution to HR in China and Hong Kong. Ira is Executive Vice-President of Universal Ideas Consultants Corporation, a management consultancy firm with a focused specialization in the marketing, market research, coordination and business development for training initiatives from seminars to comprehensive management of MBA programs. Mr. Cohen is also the Chairman of Beijing United Intelligence, a joint-venture consultant firm established to facilitate training needs for China’s 192 key State Owned Enterprises.

A veteran in education, training and development projects related to China, he arrived in Nanchang in 1985 and worked as a Professor of Communication Arts at Jiangxi Normal University. From 1987 to 1990, he developed curriculum and managed International Business Management programs in Canada for Seneca and St. Clair Colleges. 1991 thru 1994, Gao Ai Li, as he is known in Chinese, served as Coordinator of the Canada-China College Linkage Program where he is recognized for strengthening the institutional capacity of a number of China’s technical/vocational institutions through the introduction of Curriculum Development workshops and other consultative conferences. Ira will soon be celebrating 19 years of a focused China related career.

He is currently a ‘Alliance Partner in Asia’ and former advisory board member to the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD); and is widely recognized as the publisher of the ‘UI Training Services in China Directory’. Mr. Cohen holds a BA and MA in Communication Arts, a Postgraduate Diploma in International Business Management, and an MBA from Rutgers University. He has lived and worked in the UK, Holland, Canada, the US and has been a resident of Beijing for the past fourteen years.

Just a few weeks ago, Ira became the first North American to receive a Chinese issued helicopter pilot’s license which is recognized worldwide.
