Maarten Asser is an Intellectual Property Lawyer turned Organizational Change and Leadership Development Consultant and Coach with special interest in the field of Business Learning Process Improvement, Cultural Intelligence, Scenario Planning and Action learning Programs.
His engaging and highly interactive facilitation and presentation style, his professional insights, and personal anecdotes have made him a highly regarded learning facilitator on leadership and management topics around the world.
Maarten is a strong proponent of corporate collective intelligence and uses business-driven action learning principles in the design and facilitation of his executive education sessions to keep these focused on the client’s current strategic and operational challenges. His areas of interest and expertise are globalization and integration; global leadership, change, dilemma management, high-performing teamwork and intercultural competence.
He is a co-author of The Global M&A Tango: Cross cultural dimensions of Mergers and Acquisitions (McGraw-Hill, 2011) with Fons Trompenaars, and 21 Leaders for the 21st Century (McGraw-Hill, 2001) with Trompenaars and Hampden-Turner, with whom he spend 12.5 years in their research based consulting firm in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Cambridge, MA.
Maarten Asser’s list of international clients includes Novartis, Corning, telenor, Goldman Sachs, Dubai Government, Tata & Sons, Hydro, ABNAMRO, HSBC, Campofrio, Starwood Hotels, Genzyme, ING, Mahindra, Intel, IBM, Thomson Reuters, Genpact, Aditya Birla and many more.
Maarten designs and facilitates executive development courses with Duke CE, Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, Cornell Johnson Executive Education, as well as the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, India.
Maarten has an MBA in innovation, strategy, information, and technology from Theseus International Management Institute in Sophia Antipolis, (now HEC, Nice) France, a Masters from the University of Amsterdam, Faculty of Law.
He worked as an executive for almost 10 years in New York City in scientific, technical, and medical publishing, before he found he true passion in the field of learning and development.
